Recipe For Love Week 2

Can I just say that I love this drama? It’s so funny, well to be honest I really just watch Kane and Ann’s part. The rest of the cast is excellent and their stories are not bad, but it’s just not as interesting as seeing the chemistry between Kane and Ann. The dynamic between them is so different than from the other dramas they’ve done. In their first, Rang Ngao… Kane was madly in love and hurt. Ann was the vengeful one, but ended up getting hurt by Kane after he hurt her. In Oum Ruk, Kane received the brunt of Ann’s torment although neither one of them was really bad or vengeful. In Sawan Bieng, Ann was the one on the receiving end of undeserved anger and resentment from Kane. And now, both are rather indifferent to each other and couldn’t really careless how the other one feels. But they both work so well together and while Ann really only wants Kane’s help for cooking, he is actually doing way more for her in helping to reel her in from her crazy antics.
I have to say I love seeing Ann in this role, it’s fun and light. I think if it someone else was cast in this role, it could have been way over the top and annoying. But Ann is able to deliver just the right amount of crazy paranoid cuteness and I love Kane and his sterness. He’s so adorable when he’s angry or upset. And it is actually believable to see him getting mad at Ann and making her do what wants. I also love how they play on the reality of actress feuds and the games they play with each other and with the media. Especially when Pei comes to the casting wearing a rather skimpy outfit and pretends to drop something in order to flash the media and begins posing with her car and everything.
Episode 2 summary
Khun Lek is talking about creating a buzz for when they are going to do the casting for who should host the cooking show and his loyal assist begins by calling Lin to tell her about how the casting will go and to hint at the fact that Khun Lek’s mom is in fact looking for a daughter in law. It is here that we learn more about who Lin’s competition will be. One is a spunky little teenage actress that follows the cute korean trend and the other is her long time nemisis Mink. After talking to Lin the assistant calls Mink, who she favors more than Lin, to try and give Mink the inside edge. It is also revealed that Mink and Lom are going out and Mink explains to Lom that although Lin’s star has faded shes still wants to seek vengence for getting her kicked out of a drama a couple of years ago.
Kom and Din are out eatting dinner and Kom explains to Din why Lin is a bit on the crazy side. As it turns out, her mother passed away when she was younger and was cared for by 3 protective aunts. They were so protective that they only allowed her father to visit her for half a day once a week. Kom explains that Lin picked up on the personalities of all of her three aunts and on any given day at any moment those traits will show and when worst comes to worse she will be all three of them at once. The eldest aunt was a neat freak, the second aunt was a fasionista, and the youngest aunt was the overly dramatic actress/performer. When all three aunts passed away a few years ago, these traits became even more pronounced in Lin.
Now that Din knows the history behind Lin, he smirks at her craziness and can handle her even better than he did before as they prepare to go the casting. Lin is afraid that people will realize that Din has helped her cook, she forces him to dress up as her driver. As a show of her appreciation she has bought him an expensive pen with the word cook engraved in it. As the two reach the studio, Lin begins to get nervous and tells Din that although she seems perfect on the outside, she is actually very insecure. Din reveals 2 things to Lin, the first thing is that he never though of her as perfect, and the second is that Khun Lek can basically eat anything and that his mom only likes to eat bland fancy foods and cannot handle anything spicy. Lin tries to show her thanks by giving money to Din but Din refuses saying all he needs is a sincere thanks.
When they finally reach the studio, Lin realizes that no one is actually there for her. She is prepared for a greeting fanclub, but ends up they belong to the little wanna be korean star and the media is actually there for Mink. Lin tries to one up her competitors and pretends to confide in the assistant that she is afraid because her food is bland and that Khun Lek’s mom loves spicy food, the spicier the better. This leads to the assistant going to tell the other two and the other two preparing tupperwears filled with chili peppers.
As Lin is getting ready, Khun Lek sees Din and questions him saying that he looks familiar. Fortunately Khun Lek does not remember him as Taa’s friend that he met years ago. Din tells him that he is Lin’s driver and Khun Lek leaves him alone. When Lin finally comes to test and meets Khun Lek’s mom she puts on her best face and his mom falls in love with her, especially knowing that Lin comes from a rich family. Lin’s testing almost goes off without a hitch until she loses an earring, but Din is the only one to notice. Lin is able to escape diaster when she spots the earring in the mom’s dish and talks her into trying a different dish to make sure that all of them do in fact taste just as good.
The other two basically fail due to them falling into Lin’s trap and making their test dishes taste like fire. Din finds out about Lin’s tricks and gets mad because he doesn’t like people playing tricks. When Lin finds out she gets the job she calls Din first, but he ends up hanging up on her without really being excited. Lin then finds out that she will actually have to come up for a menu and cook on the show herself. This causes her to go to Kom and forces him to talk Din back into becoming her teacher again. Kom knows that he has no way of doing that and so he ends up bring Din to see Lin’s father knowing there is no way that Din can say no. Din finally agrees, but says that Lin must come and apologize herself and beg him to become her teacher again.
Din talks to Taa and she admits that Khun Lek still comes to see her and their child. Din then tells Taa about how Khun Lek’s mom is working on finding him a wife. It’s revealed that Khun Lek proposed to Taa and probably were married but not legally. When Taa got pregnant, his mom kicked her out of the house saying that she was just trying to trap her son. Taa ends up returning the ring to Khun Lek by mail and he tries to call her but she refuses to answer thus promting him to go to her bakery, but Taa refuses to accept the ring back and runs off crying. The episode ends with Lin driving to find a gift to give to Din when she goes to apologize and she ends up at Taa’s bakery
Episode 3
When Lin arrives at the bakery Taa is barely able to dry up her tears to come and serve her. Taa recognizes Lin and tells her that shes a fan and can’t wait to see her act again, but doesn’t realize that Lin is actually the woman that Din has been telling her about. Lin is gracious and wanders around the bakery while her order is being prepared and finds the box with the ring from Khun Lek sitting on the counter. Lin then gives Taa advise saying she knows all about this from her dramas that she was in before. She tells Taa to stay strong and that no man who hurts you is worth it. She might as well keep the ring if he won’t take it back and sell it to get some money.
Lin runs off to go find Din at the school where he teaches and tries to beg him to come back. He takes the tart she bought and continues to walk away from her as she begs. Lin eventually turns on her acting skills and lets the water works flow, but Din doesn’t fall for it. He calls her out on her fakeness and says that all he ever wanted from her was to be serious and honest. Lin continues to beg and Din says that he will only come back if she swears she will not play tricks on anyone ever again and that if she breaks the promise that she will become old and wrinkly and that no cream in the world would save her. She swear this as she has her fingers crossed behind her back, but Din again calls her on this forcing her to swear again for reals. Din then tells her to meet him tomorrow back at the same place and that he will take her to go someone where to learn.
Din ends up taking Lin back to her fathers farm, which upsets Lin because her father was in on the secret. But she quickly gets over it and two go around the farm and Din teaches Lin all about how to tell when the produce is good and the best ways to come up with a menu. They cook up a menu to serve to her father and Kom who has come to join. After Lin hears Kom and her father talking she comes up with a new concept for the show and goes to Khun Lek and the rest of the team to present it. Her idea is to have a cooking show that goes around to different places to cook rather than staying in a boring studio. She also comes up with the name “Alin, Aroi (tasty), Around” as the name of the show. Her pitch is a success and they decide to go to her father’s farm to film the first few episodes.
Lom talks to Mink about his money problems and his failing jewlery business. Mink tells him that she has no more money to lend him and that he should just go to his family to ask for more money. Fah ends up calling a family meeting and to Lom and Naam’s disgust, Din is invited to join. Also there is an older brother, Mek and his wife who just returned from visting their child who is abroad. Meg is rather quiet and doesn’t seem to care about much while his wife is quite the talker. When Lom asks for more money Fah questions him and ends up that he has had many failed businesses. Things get ugly when Fah compares him to Din and how Din has never gotten anything. Lom then crosses the line saying that he wishs Fah’s mother, who is in a pracitically in a coma, would die so they can open the will.
On the day where they will head off to Lin’s farm, Taa is also off delivering some cakes. But as it turns out her daughter is also sick and becomes even more ill as the nanny answer a call from Khun Lek. Hearing his daughter coughing bad and the concern of the nanny, Khun Lek detours from his destination and rushs to his daughter’s aide. He then brings her to the hospital, where Taa later follows. Khun Lek refuses then refuses to leave until she is better.
Khun Lek’s disappearance from the set causes a problem as Lin decides that if he is not there she refuses to work. She says that she will pay the cost it took to get everyone out there and doesn’t think twice about it. As Khun Lek’s assistant is visiably annoyed and upset, Din goes to Lin and tries to convince her to do the show anyways. At first she refuses and Din gets frustrated and tells her that if shes not going to cook and do the show then there is no need for him to teach her anymore and walks away. Lin then gives in and runs after him telling him that she’ll do the show.

I don’t like Taa’ s characters. I find her acting stiff in comparison from the rest of the casts.
I thinks Din should quit his job as a chef and open his own business company, just like his brother did!
Thank you for the episode summary.
Patty, I agree that Sonia is stiff, they could have chosen someone else but she’s okay.
