2High Have Deja Vu
That’s what happens if you’re too high, you know, you get deja vu. Haha, I jest.
K-Otic’s Poppy and Tomo have a side-project duet called 2High, and I’ll do my best to refrain from making any more drug jokes about it. Poppy, I’m sorry, but this latest hair cut of his makes his sticky-out ears a little more prominent, and his face just looks like he’s 13, I feel like I’m robbing the cradle to even look at him. And Tomo, I think, is RS’s own Mike (Golf-Mike); his eyebrows are over-tweased, have way too much of an arch, and he always looks mad at the world in every single picture or video. But yeah, so when their debut single, “Deja Vu,” came out, everyone was FAWNING over it and how great it was, so I went and listened to it, and I remember distinctly laughing at how they sounded no different than K-Otic already, how the lyrics were strange, and turning it off at half-way through, thinking it was nothing special.
Then the music video came out, so I figured eh, I’ll watch it and give it another shot. And okay, so I’ll admit, it wasn’t as bad as I first remember it. It’s actually decent. And the more I listen to it, the more it’s growing on me. Though I still wish their voices were better, I like the beat of it, and I find the lyrics to be kind of intriguing. Nice use of the concept of deja vu, and actually reminds me a little of someone I know haha. Though the English and Japanese lines make little sense, and the “Who is he, who am I?” lines reminded me a little more of amnesia than deja vu.
But then there’s the music video, and I have to say I do like it. The colors, the camera angles, the way it’s all put together between the dancing, singing, and storyline parts, I think it was pretty well composed and fits the style of the song. And the storyline, though a little weird and I had to watch it a couple times to understand it, if I even am understanding it right, is interesting too. So this sexy nurse girl keeps like drugging Poppy/Tomo, and they keep getting flashbacks and deja vu, and finally Poppy catches on and catches her in the act, only to look in the mirror and see he’s really Tomo? At least that explains the “He’s real, then what am I? Who is he? Who am I?” lines.

All in all, I guess I gotta say it’s really not bad. Thumbs up for them. I guess I like how it’s different than the other K-Otic songs, in the sense that it’s not just the same formula; verse, chorus, second verse, chorus, Japanese rap, Korean rap, chorus. I don’t really have much else to say on them haha, I’ll wait till their next single.

who is the girl?! i think hey casted her right in her role, although i could have done without the butt shot in the short skirt. but she does sexy good.
Umm… whats the point of taking 2 of the 4 (5?) boys to make a duo? Are the rest of K-Otic on break? 2High is a dumb name i think ahah
Ok the song, not really a fan of how much work they did to the sound. Its so electronically overdone. But i do like the beat. The lyrics, they try to tell a good story but i think its a little too simple for the story they try to tell in the MV. I think they could have went a bit further with the lyrics to have it really match the meaning of Deja Vu. From what I gather, its just suppose to be both guys telling the same story because they are experiencing the same thing from the same girl. Like when shes pissed at Poppy she will go to Tomo and when shes pissed at Tomo she will go back to Poppy and play that whole game over and over.
I’m kind of curious as how they ended up in the hospital. But otherwise I like the MV. I really like how they did the dance scenes with how they shot them and the lighting too. But i think the girl should have been in a lighter color outfit when she was with Tomo? (the angry one ahha) I guess them both catching her at the end is kind of their way of saying “hey this is it” and ending her game.
The “Who is he, who am I” line… I want to say that by context that is suppose to be more like “is he your true love? if so then what am i?” something like that. Just like questioning where he stands with the girl.
oh and you weren’t kidding Tomo does look angry, I wonder if him and Mike have ever met I want to see their eyebrows next to each other

Haha Mike and Tomo are friends and hang out together. Maybe they do their eyebrows together?
I agree, the song isn’t much different from the usual K-otic songs. I guess there’s a reason for that though since when it comes to K-otic, I feel like Tomo and Poppy pull off the concept and image the best. The whole, I’m tough, cool, etc. Jongbae and Kenta are like little boys to me, cute and not very tough looking. Koen’s just a hilarious dork. The comment about Poppy’s hair is true too. The only hair style of his I ever liked was his Blacklist hair. Even the blue streaks in it were okay. Anyways, the song is good I’d say and so is the choreo. I just thought Poppy’s singing could’ve been better. Tomo could’ve had more parts too. I mean with only two people, you’d think the song would be split a bit more evenly. Overall, pretty good though. Haha my favorite part is when Poppy sings เป็นแค่ที่พัก ไม่ใช่ที่รัก
Idk why either. He can actually sing that line better I think. Wasn’t too impressed with his vocals there, but that part just gets caught in my head.

So I just pictured Tomo and Mike sitting in chairs next to each other in the beauty parlor, getting their eyebrows waxed, and busted up laughing ahahaha.
And I agree, Tomo didn’t have too many parts in this song, he always gets stuck with that little Japanese rap ahah. He was raised in Thailand though, right? He speaks fluent Thai? He should get more parts, I agree it should be split more equally. And the Japanese lines they always give him are tiny and very simple and basic Japanese haha, I’m always disappointed cause I want to test my Japanese when I’m translating too haha. Does he speak fluent Japanese too? Or maybe their song writers don’t know Japanese so they have to stick to the basics? Or maybe they just want to keep it simple so most people can understand? haha

Tomo was born in Thailand. I read that he left for the states when he was around 6-7 years old and he came back to Thailand when he was 15. I don’t what to really think of his Thai since the guy barely speaks whether it be Thai, English, or Japanese lol. I must say that it seems pretty fluent to me though. Better than Kenta’s Thai I think. As for his Japanese, I don’t think he’s fluent. He probably knows the basics, just enough to communicate with his mom and stuff. Tomo and Kenta are actually the ones that write the Japanese rap. I guess it could be that more complex Japanese might not flow with the song? Haha, no idea. Maybe we’ll get to hear them speak it more one day. I do think he should get more parts though. He seems to have a pretty sweet voice. A lot more pleasing to my ears that Koen’s voice at least lol.

wow i’m a little surprised you did a review on this knowning you dont really like K-OTIC at all … i LOVE this song eventhough i wished Tomo had more parts but P AFU said that Tomo’s full song will be out shortly .. so i cant wait to see what that will sound like …
Man the girl they got, Courtney, is really pretty. From what Zheza said she’s from Canada … her role in the mv was good eventhough i am a little confused of the storyline of it .. like are the 2 boys in the same body or are they doing flashbacks ..

i always do this. i ignore a good song and then come back late to listen to it. lol.
the beat is really impressive. i must say that RS has stepped up in that field. i like that RS young pop music that has been recently manufactured.
the beginning makes me wanna shout ‘AMIGO! AMIGO! AMIGO!’
if you guys have ever heard of Shinee’s Amigo song, i was reminded of that part.
i like Poppy’s hair, although Tahmnong thinks he looks 13. lol. i think this is the best hair cut he has so far. i was impress with it. the old one made him like like a wide head, this one makes his face longer and older. and his line towards the end ‘stop it please’ HOW SEXY IS THAT? Popppy has always been the stronger vocals in KOtic, so im glad he got more attention even if it’s with Tomo.
AND Mr. Tomo there is pretty handsome looking. dont worry Tahmnong, i feel like a old granny watching babies dance around. hot babies. lol. eek.
but i didnt notice that i noticed the ‘lift me, lift me, lift me’ i was like, ‘what song is this again?!’ im the one with amnesia.
AND RS there has hired a rather decent dance teacher. the dance moves in the beginning is rather impressive. rather flowishly good.

prettie good compared to their past works..i’ve ditched them eversince their first single anyways the mv is prettie good..the concept is nice..but the english lyrics is …. like its in the dejavu..isn’t it juz its dejavu w/ out the “the” lol

I’ll be honest and say I don’t listen to many RS kids now and days because….girly berry & Lydia left really bad impressions on me LOL. But this song is really awesome. They’re dancing’s really well synced and smooth. The eyebrow thing, we’ll get used to.
