At first listen, The Richman Toy may seem a little wild and strange, and while I admit they maybe an acquired taste, there’s just something I absolutely love about this quirky, energetic rock band. I think it’s the fact that they love being themselves. They’ve got such an original, unique sound (which is important for me), and are known for their crazy, humorous lyrics. Not to mention their bassist and one of the guitarists are drop-dead gorgeous.

Signed with Smallroom, the same label as another of our favorites here Tattoo Colour, after two years of low activity, the band finally released their second full-length album “Lum Nam Sading Love You” back in August of last year. I’m sad to say I never got around to getting it until recently, but TRMT have been steadily growing in popularity with their upbeat, crazy songs, and now I finally understand why.

Their first single from the latest album is their song, “กระเป๋าแบนแฟนยิ้ม / Gra Pbao Baen Faen Yim (Smiling Boyfriend’s Empty Wallet).” The lyrics are exactly as it sounds; about a guy willing to spend everything he’s got to look rich and hi-so so he can fit into upperclass life and find true love, then begins to question if love is worth more than money or material objects. The song is upbeat and crazy with nice guitar and bass solos, it was pretty much love at first listen for me.

Shortly after that, they released their second single, “อ๊อด อ๊อด / Od Od,” and I’m not sure if that’s just supposed to be random sound effects or the english word “Odd Odd,” but regardless, this song exploded in popularity. You could hear this on the radio regularly, in clubs all over, everyone was making fanvideos out of it, parody videos to it…it was everywhere. And how can you not love it? With it’s addictive, catchy beat and melody, combined with silly lyrics with random english that doesn’t make complete sense all the time hahaa. And don’t even get me started on the music video!

The Richman Toy’s entire album is filled with crazy, upbeat songs like these with amusing lyrics, a lot of which make plays on words in the Thai language that makes translating difficult, so I’ll just leave it at this to trust me, that if you like their latest singles, this quirky rock group is for you~

Ahh, February. You’re here. Already. Again! Came so all the couples out there can celebrate while reminding all the singles out there that we are… well, single for Valentine’s Day.

Well, here’s a movie for all the single ladies (and men) out there just in time for V-Day…

Fate seems to be playing tricks on Mai (Mint AF3-Minatida Wattanakul) when she falls in love with 3 seemingly perfect guys who all seem to be interested in her. There’s rich, handsome Mick (Jeeb-Wasu Sangsingkaew) who is such a catch, whoever became his girlfriend would feel like a lottery winner. Then there’s bad boy Art (Krit Sriphoomset), a blunt-spoken, unromantic guy with whom Mai would never have any business with but who she likely ends up going out with. Last but not least, there’s long-time childhood friend Gong (Per-Suwikrom Amaranan), the normal yet gentle guy with a warm personality who does many things for Mai out of love. With Valentine’s Day coming up and three guys up for grabs, who will Mai choose?

The film was released on 4th February 2010 with a rating of 8.46/10 stars (based on 13 votes — yeah not much since it’s new).

I’ll admit to knowing absolutely nothing about Mint AF3 or her stint on Academy Fantasia but she is pretty in the movie and has a little knack for comedy. Way to talk an elderly man to an early death though. I say she was better to look at than any of the love interest guys throughout the movie (unfortunately). And yes, that is DJ Krit (Marsha’s BF) from EFM 93.5 as the outspoken love interest, Art. Jeebus, yellow pants! Pink blazer! He just cannot make that look stylish on him. That is enough of a reason for me NOT to go out with him. Looks he like he knows how to push her buttons. As for the third guy Gong played by Per, he looks like he’s the one Mai can talk to and be herself but I’m not so sure about the attraction factor there. The rich guy Mick seems a little old[er] (hah! rich, old… oh how art mimics life) than her. So, what are the odds of her choosing which guy? Anyone care to guess?

The film’s theme song is by Tattoo Colour and came out sometime in 2008 (?). Perhaps the expert of Tattoo Colour (Tahmnong) can confirm this…

ขาหมู / Kah Moo / Pig’s Leg

I have to say that translating this song was very strange and difficult. Almost nonsensical, really. So the English may not match it as closely as intended. It’s like the lyrics were intended to be like that just to match the tune of the song which I think is a waste because so many songs of today are like that, if you listen closely. Then again, this song is called “Pig’s Leg” for crying out loud and that’s only mentioned once through the whole song.

After her first single เจ็บที่ไร้ร่องรอย / Jeb Tee Rai Rong Roi / Pain That Has No Scars, I never really gave Cha Cha another thought. I saw her pop up every now and again, but I never really got around to listening to paying too much attention to her other singles. I’ve also put off checking out her album, which I still haven’t done, but I decided to take a listen to her newest single just because I couldn’t really find anything else to post.

I’m kind of sad now that I haven’t listen to her more earlier. She’s pretty good for a young singer, I like her style, not only music but look too. Her latest single รักคนที่เขารักเธอดีกว่า / Ruk Kon Tee Kao Ruk Tur Dee Gwaa / It’s Better to Love Someone Who Loves You, is a nice song. I like the lyrics, even though its about being completely stuck on a guy who broke her heart, they are not to teenage emo. The melody is really nice too, it has a nice beat to it. Too bad there isn’t an MV for it, only the karaoke video, as she has had good MV’s in the past. I really can’t watch the karaoke video though as the swirly pulling of the images they do kind of give me a headache.
